Call for Nominations "Vision zero pesticide in our cities and villages
The Burgundy Regional Council has launched a call for applications "Vision zero pesticide in our cities and villages" in order to support a large number of municipalities that do not want to use pesticides for the maintenance of roads and green spaces. Elected officials voted the first appropriation, to launch the tender to retain providers who advise communities.

About 700 communities were contacted by mail. More than sixty communities have applied for membership to date (downloadable file below). The number of communities eligible for this service is limited, a selection of applications will then be performed if necessary.
Up to 40% of pesticides used to maintain the gardens, public spaces, transport routes are found directly in the stream. The reason lies in the fact that the treated surfaces are generally low permeability (roads, sidewalks, public parks, industrial areas, airports ...). This results in the contamination of natural environments and drinking water. Besides the effects on the health of users and neighboring areas treated.
However, there are alternative techniques for treatment and preventive management areas that reduce pesticide use. In this spirit, the Burgundy Regional Council made the call for applications in partnership with water agencies (Seine-Normandy, Loire-Bretagne, Rhône-Méditerranée-Corse) and the European Union, as part of Operation "Purpose zero pesticide in our towns and villages."
His target: municipalities with fewer than 10 000 inhabitants located on the most contaminated watersheds (a list of common downloadable below).
Its goal: minimize or eliminate pesticide use by the technical community on the roads, in parks, gardens, vegetated beds, sports fields, greenhouses ...
The selected communities will be supported in the diagnosis of their practices in the development and implementation of a plan of maintenance of public spaces. The Region will provide a kit of common communication destination of their citizens.
Reduce pesticides: a dedicated website!
Plante & City, alongside the Ministry of Sustainable Development has created the website www.ecophytozna-pro.fr .
Launched in February 2011, it helps urban professionals and businesses to reduce pesticide use in non-agricultural areas.
The site includes several thematic headings. It provides information on the management and rational design of green areas, the impacts of pesticides on human health and the environment and regulation.

Original approaches made by the cities are in the form of video or text summary. In addition the site will present the results of studies and technical support made by Plante & City. For example a guide for the management of the pine processionary caterpillar, tips for communicating and promoting the acceptance of native flora in the city ...

The evolution of green space for both professionals and individuals. This is why gardeners have their site to manage a garden with less pesticides.
